Money for Education, but not in the U.S.A

Not to long ago, as a matter of fact, a year ago, then Candidate Walsh was beating the drum for his Tea Party followers saying we need to abolish the EPA and the Department of Education.

Recently, a story released by Sam Stein of the Huffington Posts provides the reader with some insight regarding Freshman Republicans lobbying federal agencies for millions of dollars despite the drumbeat of out of control government spending.

Our or maybe your own Congressman Joe Walsh wrote the Department of Agriculture on February 14, asking for $7,498,015 in cash and commodities contributions for the American Nicaraguan Foundation and Fabretto Children’s Foundation — groups that run education, health and nutrition programs in Nicaragua.

Joe why is it ok to spend millions abroad for education, but not at home?

President Obama's Budget Proposal... Simply Unacceptable
by Congressman Joe Walsh on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:17am

Today, President Obama released his budget proposal. It is a record $3.73 trillion budget with a record $1.65 trillion deficit and includes both spending and tax increases.

This budget proposal is simply unacceptable. It is a record $3.73 trillion budget with a record $1.65 trillion deficit—even larger than our current $1.4 trillion deficit. The meager $1.1 trillion in spending cuts over the next ten years do not even come close to the $4 trillion in cuts on which his own blue-ribbon deficit commission insisted.

When Obama became President the national debt was $10.6 trillion, now it is $14.1 trillion – that’s a 35.5 percent increase in just two short years. I cannot believe that while American families are tightening their purse strings and struggling to make ends meet, the President continues to spend and spend and spend.

I think the American people had something else in mind when they sent us all to Washington this November. They want spending cuts now, not in ten years. They don’t want more job-killing tax increases. And they certainly don’t want spending increases.

If the President is not going to take Washington’s spending addiction seriously, then Congress will. We know the American people want to see spending cuts now. That is why we have proposed $100 billion in spending cuts for the remainder of the year. It is the largest spending reduction in American history. And we need it. That is what tackling the deficit looks like.

Anonymous you missed the whole point.
Why is it that OUR representative from Illinois is asking for 7.5 million for a children's fund in Nicaragua while voting to cut education funding in the US??? THAT is unacceptable!!! and sounds unpatriotic to me!!!

VP I was being ironic. He wrote that on the same day he was trying to get an enormous amount of money for a group that he claimed he was a "fundraiser" for.

That being said, where is our so-called local "press?" Walsh never offered any information on how exactly he got paid by that group, or anyone else for that matter. There seems to be a problem. Frankly, I think there might be a serious problem.

Apparently Huffington Post and bloggers need to do the job of the local press, as the local press writes 50 articles about raised voices in city council meetings that about 12 people care about.

Where are you? We need some updates to this Blog. Did somebody get to you?

Last night Joe claimed that there was overwhelming support in his last three town hall meetings for his legislative opposition to everything--so maybe only Kathi and I are interested in tracking his activities.

...or Grover Norquist and the McHenry County Tea Party paid a visit to Eye on Joe Walsh.

Well, since the "Eye" isn't updating, you might want to take a look at the latest article in the Daily Herald

The Herald describes Walsh as "A former teacher with a history of foreclosure and liens for failing to pay income taxes..." Yeah, that's who we need taking a stand on the economy!

It is time to get some new info up. We can put together a Walsh Watch after the Lake County Fair. Perhaps we will run into Walsh himself and get some quotes from Joe "Chris(61)" himself. In the meantime, the DH seems to be covering him pretty good and the commenters are are showing their true colors...Code for no love lost with Joe!
I suspect we are getting close to Walsh making a choice of what District he will be running in. The leading odds are it will not be the Tenth.
